teal
Teal is building the ideal human–machine interface by unlocking the speed, complexity, and depth of the brain. We create models that decode neural signals into the semantic concepts they represent — non-invasively, without breaking skin.
Teal's mission reaches for a metamorphosis of humankind akin to the iconic transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. This endeavor will, in many ways, unify entities of our world that may presently be no less separate than green landmass and blue ocean. We also hold comfort and safety as guiding eigenprinciples. Following these ideas, a teal butterfly landed on our minds.
Vision
The mind is the last interface.
Three key ideas form the core of our vision with Teal.
Beautiful things happen when humans and machines are brought closer together. Much of the last half-century’s technological progress is evidence of this. The Internet, personal computers, smartphones, generative AI—with each leap, a discontinuous jump in creativity and connection followed. We see non-invasive neural interfaces as the final frontier of human-computer interaction, and expect unprecedented beauty to follow.
Knowledge is power. Functionally, there is little difference between accessing biologically stored memory and the vast libraries of information online if both can be done in subseconds. A non-invasive neural interface brings all the world’s knowledge into our minds’ scope, which will aggressively energize each human’s ability to chase personal missions in work and education.
AI development has brought us to an inflection point in our relationship with technology. As technological output systems continue to accelerate at breakneck speeds, input systems need to follow suit if we wish to stay in the loop and retain our power to contribute. In this way, we see neural interfaces as one of humankind’s most important modern missions.
The distance between a thought and the world should be nothing at all.
Teal is building toward this future — carefully, and for everyone. Read our science, or come build it with us.
